BECOMING A MEMBER

You may become a member of the Presbyterian Community Church in one of three ways:
by profession of faith and baptism, reaffirmation of faith, or letter of transfer
from another church. The Session meets with those joining in order to receive
them into membership.  These meetings are scheduled whenever there are those
who indicate interest. In addition, an Inquirer’s Class is also offered when
there is interest. If you have any questions, please speak with the pastor(s)
following worship or call the church office (586-4404).

How to become a Member of the
Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies

Membership in the Body of Christ is a joy and privilege!
We gather together to celebrate the love and grace of Jesus Christ. What does
it mean to be a member of the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies? It means a lot! To
join the church means to unite with others in committed Christian fellowship;
to enjoy the benefits of Christian community, worship and fellowship; and to
serve together for the Kingdom of God.

There are three questions regarding Christian faith asked by the pastor
during the Session meeting when new members are received.

1)   Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
This is a question of authority. Who is the highest authority, or Lord, of
your life? From where or whom do you obtain your values and ideals? What do
you cherish, hold high and give assent to as True?  Who is the Savior of your
life; that is, the one who died for you and whom you now serve?

2)     Do you trust in Him; meaning, do you put your life in His hands?
This is a question of discipleship. Are you stepping out on your faith? Are
you working on living your faith in your life? Is your faith more than
intellectual belief and extended to your personal value system and ethics and
lifestyle?

3)     Will you serve the Church of Jesus Christ with your love, your
intelligence, your gifts and your imagination?
This is a question of commitment. Will you attend worship, participate in the
ministries of the church that God leads you into, support the church
financially, with prayers, with love and with service?

What does it mean to be a Member of the
Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies?

I. Regular Worship and Attendance
Members make a commitment to attend worship services regularly.

II. Service
Members serve the Church of Jesus Christ by using their spiritual gifts in
ministry as God guides them. This can range from organized Church mission activities to community service or tending to family members in need.

III. Study
Members make a commitment to study the Bible and the Christian faith so that we can glorify God responsibly with our minds and hearts.  This can be done through our educational programs and personal study times.

IV. Regular Financial Giving to the Church
Members are provided a Pledge Card at the time they join the church, and then annually during pledge drives. On the Pledge Cards, members estimate their financial contributions to the mission and ministry of Community Church of the Rockies. Members are urged to work toward the Biblical model of a tithe (10% of income). However, we do not give according to set formulas, but as God has blessed us, and as our individual circumstances allow. Giving records are kept confidential.  Those suffering from severe financial distress are encouraged to join the church that they might be encouraged and strengthened spiritually. This membership criterion should not deter anyone from the fellowship of Christ's Body.

V. Prayer
Members are requested to pray for the church, its ministries, mission, staff
and members.  There is a prayer team you may join and/or there is a
intercessory prayer time each Tuesday at noon.
